That's Not My Name

by Chris Whipple

First published 2019

A group of bright kindergarteners faces the daily challenge of playground cruelty. When classmates start using hurtful words instead of real names, these young children must find a way to stand up for themselves and others. They discover strength in their faith, learning that God has given everyone a special name that deserves respect. The children apply biblical teachings about how people should treat one another, drawing from scriptures that remind them of their worth and calling. As they confront bullying behavior in their classroom and on the playground, they learn to speak up when others use mean words. The story shows how even the youngest children can make a difference when they remember that everyone has value. Through their faith and courage, these kindergarteners transform their school environment from one of cruelty to one of kindness and acceptance.
