Creeper, a street-smart New Orleans teen, has her sights set on the smuggler airship Midnight Robber. But to earn passage, she must leverage a secret about a kidnapped Haitian scientist and his mysterious weapon, the Black God's Drums. Creeper hides her own secret—the African storm god Oya speaks in her mind, granting divine powers. As Creeper maneuvers to infiltrate the airship, she discovers Oya has her own agenda, one that could threaten the entire city. Creeper must decide whether to trust the deadly god or chart her own course, with the fate of New Orleans hanging in the balance.
