Nico travels through post-apocalyptic New England with her dog, following her father's plan to locate a legendary portal. The fly flu has decimated the globe, leaving behind scattered survivors who navigate a world overrun by infected swarms. Kit, a young artist who grew up in an abandoned movie theater, pursues his own path through the devastation. The mysterious Deliverer experiences multiple lives while working to repair the broken world. These survivors cross paths in the forests of a transformed landscape, each driven by personal quests for connection and meaning. Nico's journey becomes part of a larger story about finding beauty and love when civilization has collapsed. The characters discover that art, stories, and human bonds can persist even after society's destruction.
