Robert spent fourteen years working for a shadowy organization he knew nothing about. His boss Jack recruited him straight from college, but Jack never revealed who else belonged to the group or what they actually did. When Jack dies, Robert believes he should take over. His investigation leads him to Senator Margaret Miller, who reacts with fury when Robert suggests she has broken the law. Robert hands her a compact disc as leverage. Meanwhile, Captain Ron pilots FedEx flight 1407 toward Memphis International Airport when air traffic control suddenly orders all planes to abort their landings. The radio cuts out after controllers begin to say something urgent. Captain Ron realizes Memphis has been destroyed and tells other pilots to find alternate airports.
