The Handbook

First published 2018

Nikki's college year takes a turn when her longtime boyfriend dumps her. She discovers a handwritten notebook called The Femme Fatale Handbook buried in the library stacks. The manual contains advice on becoming the ultimate seductress. Nikki decides to follow its guidance and never let another man break her heart. Her target becomes Derek Anderson, the moody new professor who has taken over one of her classes. Derek carries rumors about sleeping with a student and has a reputation for being rude and egotistical. He typically pursues one night stands and moves on, but Nikki proves different. She keeps him at arm's length despite his pursuit, using her newfound confidence to maintain the upper hand. Derek finds himself intrigued and frustrated by this whip smart student who won't tolerate his usual behavior. The tension builds as both characters navigate their attraction while playing a game of emotional chess.
