Ellie Lawson's life falls apart in a single week. Her boyfriend ends things, her boss fires her, and she has nowhere to go but back to her parents' inn tucked inside a Honeycrisp apple orchard on Long Island. She plans to lie low in the attic apartment and regroup. Instead she finds Aiden, the orchard owner's son, already living there. He's stubborn. He's attractive. He is not moving out. Their parents solve the problem by handing both of them a job: run the Harvest Festival together. The festival is not optional. Without it, the orchard struggles and the inn struggles with it. Ellie is an event planner by trade, so she knows what she's doing. Aiden has opinions about that. They argue, they work side by side, and somewhere between the apple rows and the festival prep, the arguments start feeling like something else. Ellie begins to see what she walked away from when she left for the city. Aiden begins to see that Ellie is more than he assumed. Whether any of that matters depends on whether they can pull the festival off first.
