Part of The Empress of Thorns
First published 2026
The narrator believed she would shift into a wolf like everyone else in her pack. She dreamed of transforming and winning the heart of Nordin Stormsson, the forbidden wolf she loved. Her mother destroyed the first dream by revealing the truth: her daughter was not a shifter but a valkyrie, abandoned far from her own people. Nordin crushed the second dream when he rejected her and chose another mate. Heartbroken, she ventures beyond the protective wards to find her birth clan. Dragons, vampyrs, and enemy wolves hunt her through the darkness. Nordin follows and captures her before the predators can strike. He takes her body and wins back her heart. She dares to hope for a future with him in the frozen land of wolves. Then she uncovers his most guarded secret about her past. This truth destroys everything between them. She must choose between the life she has known and a legacy she never wanted.
