Catalina has run out of options. The world has knocked her down at every turn, so when a demon offers her a deal and a way out, she takes it. She does not stop to think too hard about what comes next. What comes next is an auction, and the one who claims her is a kraken named Thane. He is cold. He keeps his distance. But he is not cruel, and in their isolation Catalina keeps finding reasons to seek him out. Slowly, something shifts between them. When she finally holds up her end of the bargain with Thane, the dynamic changes again in ways she did not expect. The problem is the clock. Catalina only signed over seven years to the demon. When that time runs out, she has to go back. Back to the realm she fled. Back to the life that never wanted her. She will have to leave Thane behind, and that is the part she never planned for. The deal that was supposed to save her has turned into the one thing she cannot stand to lose.
