The Marvelous Land of Oz

by Adele Thane

First published 2014

Tip lives as a servant to the wicked Witch Mombi in the land of the Gillikins. He creates a living puppet with a carved pumpkin for a head, bringing his creation to life through magic. When Mombi threatens to turn her dark powers against both of them, Tip and his pumpkin-headed companion make their escape. They journey toward the Emerald City, hoping the Scarecrow, who now rules Oz, will protect them from the witch's revenge. But their arrival brings an unexpected shock. Instead of finding safety in the royal palace, they discover the Scarecrow himself fleeing from danger. General Jinjur has raised an army and seized control of the city, forcing even the ruler of Oz to run for his life. Tip must now navigate a world where old allies have become refugees and new enemies hold power. This theatrical adaptation preserves the whimsical characters and surprising plot turns that made the original sequel to The Wizard of Oz so memorable.
