Bill Robinson left Boston police work behind to run The Inn at Gloucester, a solitary refuge perched on Massachusetts rocky coastline. The inn shelters permanent residents seeking escape from life's hardships, including Sheriff Clayton Spears who occupies the second floor. When two strangers request temporary lodging, Spears welcomes them without inquiry. But their arrival coincides with trouble brewing in Gloucester. A crime boss has moved into town and resents the watchful presence of Robinson and Spears. Local criminals begin dying under suspicious circumstances while surveillance teams monitor the inn. Robinson must act quickly to protect his sanctuary. He joins forces with Spears and three brave residents: Nick Jones, an Army veteran; Susan Solie, a former FBI agent; and Effie Johnson, the enigmatic groundskeeper. Together they mount a dangerous campaign to defend Gloucester, safeguard the makeshift family Robinson has built, and preserve the only home that matters to him.
