Part of Fargo Adventures, book 11
First published 2019
Sam and Remi Fargo sponsor an archaeological dig that uncovers clues to a mysterious ancient scroll. The artifact dates back to 533 A.D., when the last Vandal king in North Africa sought guidance from an oracle about defeating Byzantine invaders. The oracle revealed that a high priestess had cursed the Vandal Kingdom after thieves stole her sacred scroll. Only returning the scroll to its proper place could break the curse, but the kingdom fell before anyone could recover it. The Fargos put their treasure hunt on pause when bandits steal supplies meant for their foundation's Nigerian school. They travel to deliver replacement materials personally, but armed robbers capture Remi and several female students. The kidnapping connects to the missing scroll, forcing the couple to navigate between saving innocent lives and pursuing ancient secrets. Sam and Remi must use every skill they possess to rescue the hostages and uncover the treasure while confronting the scroll's deadly curse.
