The Outliers

First published 2016

Wylie receives a desperate text from Cassie asking for help. The two friends haven't spoken in over a week since their fight, but Wylie won't abandon Cassie when she's in trouble. This rescue mission feels different from all the others. Cassie won't reveal her location directly. Instead, she sends puzzling clues that lead north into Maine's thick forests. Jasper arrives claiming Cassie asked him to assist with the search. Wylie doesn't trust him since he's the one who led Cassie astray before, but she needs his help to decode Cassie's messages. As they venture deeper into the wilderness, Wylie's unease grows stronger. Something feels very wrong about this situation. Cassie is hiding important information from them. The search becomes increasingly perilous as they follow the trail farther from civilization. Wylie must decide whether finding Cassie will solve their problems or create entirely new dangers.
