Part of Pigeon
First published 2022
Pigeon stands at the base of a towering roller coaster, his feathers ruffled with anticipation and nerves. This isn't just any ride. This is the ultimate test of courage for a bird who has spent so much time asking for things he wants. Now he faces something that both thrills and terrifies him. The colorful cars climb and plunge along twisted tracks above him. Other riders scream with joy and fear. Pigeon must decide if he's truly ready for all those twists and turns. His usual confidence wavers as he contemplates the emotional ups and downs ahead. The ride operator waits. Other passengers watch. This moment will test everything Pigeon thinks he knows about being brave and taking on new challenges. Mo Willems delivers another adventure that captures the mix of excitement and anxiety every child feels when facing something new and scary.
