The Polaris Protocol

by Brad Taylor

Part of Pike Logan, book 5

First published 2014

Pike Logan and Jennifer Cahill are deployed with the Taskforce in Turkmenistan when Jennifer receives a frantic phone call from her brother Jack. The investigative journalist has stumbled into cartel territory while researching Mexican drug trafficking. Before Jennifer can respond, Jack disappears. Pike and Jennifer abandon their mission to hunt for him, but they discover something far worse than kidnapping. The cartel holding Jack has acquired a GPS hacking system that can cripple American infrastructure. The technology sends false signals to navigation systems, allowing attackers to manipulate traffic lights, banking transfers, and military weapons. Pike and Jennifer must penetrate the cartel's operations before the hackers deploy their weapon. Jack's survival depends on their success, but so does national security. The Taskforce operates outside legal boundaries, giving Pike and Jennifer freedom to act. They also face consequences no official agency would accept.
