The Reefs of Time

by Jeffrey A. Carver

First published 2019

John Bandicut thought the Mindaru were finished. The exiled Earthman and his alien allies had saved the Orion Nebula from the malicious AI colony. Now a surviving fragment swarms toward the present through the starstream, creating dangerous temporal disturbances near planet Karellia. The Karellians know nothing about the galaxy-threatening menace approaching through their hyperspace networks. Only Bandicut possesses the knowledge to act, but several companions vanish during the crisis. He partners with Li-Jared and the pan-dimensional Ruall, traveling to Karellia to sever the timestream connection. Meanwhile, his missing friend Ik encounters another human from Earth on Shipworld. This woman once loved Bandicut, and she joins Ik on a desperate mission into deep time to destroy the Mindaru at their origin point. Two teams race against catastrophe across opposite ends of history. Bandicut must navigate alien politics and cutting-edge technology while confronting the emotional weight of old relationships and new alliances in this galaxy-spanning adventure.
