The Space Between Worlds

Part of The Space Between Worlds, book 1

First published 2020

Cara has died on 372 worlds. Disease, gang violence, and old grudges killed her parallel selves across the multiverse. On this Earth, she survived long enough to escape the wastelands outside Wiley City. Now the Eldridge Institute employs her as a multiverse traveler, since the technology only works for people whose counterparts are dead. She works with Dell, her handler, collecting data from other worlds. Cara has an apartment in the lower levels of the walled city and visits her family in the wastes when she can. She keeps quiet and follows orders, hoping to earn full citizenship. Then one of her eight remaining doubles dies under strange circumstances. Cara travels to that world and uncovers a secret that connects her past to a conspiracy threatening every reality. She must choose between the safety she has built and protecting the entire multiverse.
