Ren treasured his mother's tales about Star Hosts, warriors wielding stellar power across the galaxy. Life on his remote planet offered little excitement until soldiers drag him away to serve Baron's army. Imprisoned and plotting escape, Ren meets Asher, a Phoenix Corps member in the neighboring cell. The Baron's general suspects Ren possesses abilities from those childhood stories, and strange technopathic powers begin surfacing within him. Asher becomes his anchor as these new abilities threaten to overwhelm him. After breaking free, the pair trek across hostile terrain and board a merchant vessel. Ren finds himself drawn to this mysterious drifter who reminds him of home. They race to alert the drifts about the Baron's military schemes while Ren struggles to control his expanding powers. Their mission grows complicated as attraction builds between them and they fight to rescue captured friends.
