Lunar Jones discovers a derelict ship drifting between Earth and Mars, its crew vanished without a trace. The evidence points to an attack by nine mysterious creatures that scattered across the solar system, one targeting each planet. These void dragons prove to be undead enemies that resist conventional destruction. Their arrival signals something worse approaching, a force that could extinguish even the brightest stars. While Lunar had been preparing for the Solar Summit, a rare gathering of planetary dragons that occurs every five centuries, he now faces a threat that Proteus had warned about before his disappearance. The Dread Knights must rally new recruits and forge unexpected alliances as the entire solar system locks into battle. With Phobos and Deimos requiring new riders and more candidates than ever seeking positions on their celebrated crews, Lunar finds himself stretched between training responsibilities and an escalating crisis. To save their world for a third time, Lunar and his companions must discover new powers and prepare for ultimate sacrifice.
