The Walking Dead, Vol. 8

by Robert Kirkman

Part of The Walking Dead

First published 2008

Rick Grimes and his fellow survivors believed the prison walls would keep them safe from the walking dead. They built routines in their concrete fortress while the zombie epidemic raged outside. No government exists anymore. No stores remain open. Mail trucks sit abandoned. Cable networks went dark months ago. The old world died when the infection spread and corpses began hunting the living. Now a new threat approaches the prison. This enemy thinks and plans unlike the mindless dead. Rick watches from the guard towers as armed humans gather beyond the fence. These living adversaries want what Rick's group has built. They will kill to take it. The survivors who escaped Atlanta and found refuge behind prison walls must fight for everything. When the attack ends, fewer than half will remain alive. The prison that promised safety becomes a battlefield where Rick learns that other people pose greater danger than any zombie horde.
