Hannah Walsh is twenty-five, employed as a graphic designer, and living with her girlfriend Morgan Hughes in a life that feels, by most measures, settled. The two witches survived the Witch Hunters as teenagers, and that chapter is closed. Dinner with their friend Cal changes the mood fast. Cal arrives carrying an offer from the Council that governs the three Witch Clans, and suddenly Hannah has to look honestly at the life she has built. The job is fine. The apartment is good. Morgan is wonderful. But fine and good and wonderful are not the same as purposeful. The offer sits on the table and Hannah has to decide whether contentment is enough or whether she wants to reach for something that asks more of her. This 7,000-word short story follows Hannah and Morgan seven years after the events of This Coven Won't Break. It contains spoilers for both that book and These Witches Don't Burn, and works best read after the original duology is finished. It is warm, romantic, and rooted in the specific comfort of two people who already know they belong together deciding, together, what comes next.
