To Sail a Darkling Sea

by John Ringo

First published 2014

The zombie plague has wiped out human civilization, leaving only scattered survivors clinging to life. Wolf Squadron, a makeshift fleet of yachts and cargo ships, prowls the Atlantic Ocean hunting for anyone still alive. Every abandoned cruise ship and aircraft carrier could hide either desperate survivors or hordes of infected. Death lurks around every corner, and a single mistake means joining the ranks of the undead. The squadron faces its biggest test yet when they discover the assault carrier USS Iwo Jima. Trapped Marines and sailors are starving inside while infected roam the ship's corridors. Wolf Squadron must clear out the zombies before the military personnel die or turn. Success means gaining valuable allies and a powerful warship. Failure means losing everything they've fought to build. This rescue mission will determine whether humanity has a future or if the darkness will consume what little light remains in the world.
