President Jack Ryan watches protests sweep across Iran while his advisors celebrate what they call the Persian Spring. Ryan stays cautious as Congress and his Cabinet push him to support the rebels. At home, a deadly flu outbreak spreads while spring floods devastate the Southeast. A corrupt senator plants fake news stories to destroy Ryan's presidency. The real crisis hits when two Russian nuclear missiles disappear. Jack Ryan Jr. travels to Afghanistan and makes contact with a defecting Russian intelligence officer who might help track the weapons. Russian operatives capture Jack Jr. soon after he arrives. John Clark leads the Campus team in a desperate hunt for both the missing missiles and their kidnapped colleague. Ryan must confront an invisible enemy who refuses direct confrontation while fake news stories spiral out of control and the nuclear weapons remain missing.
