Part of Serge Storms, book 4

First published 2003

Jim Davenport thought he had found paradise when his company transferred him from Indiana to a tropical villa on Triggerfish Lane. The mild-mannered Midwestern family man settled into what seemed like an idyllic Florida neighborhood. But the summer heat peels back the veneer of suburban bliss. Jim discovers his neighbors include yuppies with pit bulls, Machiavellian car salesmen, and clients of floating pawn shops on Crack Street. The pressure builds until this peaceful farm boy snaps and kills someone. Police rule the homicide justified, but Jim has murdered the youngest McGraw Brother. The remaining brothers break out of an Alabama prison and head south for revenge. Meanwhile, Serge Storms moves across the street with his companions Coleman and Sharon after they burn down blocks of Tampa's Latin Quarter. Serge decides to mentor Jim in local history and romance while coaching Little League. As the McGraw Brothers close in and Serge's crew spirals deeper into chaos, everyone converges on Triggerfish Lane for the Fourth of July block party.
