Daniel finds himself trapped in Ubo, a prison beyond normal time where giant roaches rule over human captives. He remembers his capture like all the other residents do: dry wings blocking the moon, massive insects swooping down on houses, creatures that moved through walls like magic or advanced science. The roaches looked like ornate playing cards as they shifted between hidden worlds. Now Daniel faces a daily nightmare. His captors force him to become different violent figures from history. One day he plays Jack the Ripper in a murderous frenzy. Another day he stumbles through life as a confused Stalin. Sometimes he becomes a self-proclaimed god killing survivors on top of ruined cities. The scenarios change constantly in this camp that exists outside normal rules. Skies burn overhead while prisoners lose their minds. Identities melt away as the experiments continue. No one knows what the roaches ultimately want or how their mysterious tests will end.
