Periwinkle has lived her whole life in the Winter Woods of Pixie Hollow, keeping to the cold side of the border the way frost fairies always do. Then she strays too close to where Spring begins, and something shifts. A thread of lost magic catches hold of her, and for the first time in her life, she starts to dream. At first the dreams are gentle. Then they turn dark, filling with images of the Pixie Dust Tree in ruins. Without that tree, Pixie Hollow dies. A sparrow man named Weaver finds her before she can make sense of any of it. He is infuriatingly handsome and claims to be a dream-talent, the last one alive. He says he can spin her dreams into dream thread and use it to protect the tree, but only if they travel together into the uncharted heart of the Winter Woods to find a magic spindle and scissors hidden in the lost workshops of dream-talents long gone. Peri does not trust him. She goes anyway. The deeper they push into unfamiliar territory, the more her dreams begin to unravel, and the harder it becomes to keep her feelings for Weaver separate from the danger he represents.
