Part of Anna Pigeon, book 14
First published 2008
Anna Pigeon arrives at Isle Royale National Park to join a wolf research team studying the famous packs that roam this remote island in Lake Superior. The assignment seems straightforward until the wolves start acting strangely. Massive paw prints appear in the snow, far larger than any normal wolf should leave. From her perch in a surveillance aircraft, Anna spots an enormous wolf moving through the wilderness below. The idyllic research station turns sinister when one of her female colleagues suffers a brutal attack. Anna becomes certain that something is hunting the team. The pristine wilderness refuge transforms into a landscape filled with unnatural events and escalating threats. Anna must determine whether they face a rogue predator or something far more dangerous stalking them through the winter landscape.
