Alice has made up her mind: she is going back to Wonderland for good. Victorian London offers her almost nothing, and Wonderland offers her everything, including the traveling magical tea shop she intends to run. The Hatter, the Hare, and the Cheshire Cat are right where she left them. Then she meets another girl from the real world who insists she was the first to ever set foot in Wonderland and that Alice is the imposter. Before either of them can settle the argument, the Queen of Hearts' soldiers haul them both to the castle. There, Alice learns the situation is worse than one rival: dozens of girls have crossed into Wonderland, all answering to the same name. A prophecy says one of them is destined to destroy three mock dragons invading from another realm. That girl earns the title of The Alice. Everyone else gets exiled, permanently. Alice wants Wonderland's future secured, but she also wants her own place in it. She sets out with her enchanted tea set and a wary alliance with a mysterious boy tied to the legendary jabberwocks. The question underneath everything: is she the protagonist of this story, or a footnote in someone else's?
