First published 2023

Zeus bounces with excitement as the chocolate lab puppy begins his training. His trainer, a young boy named Kimo, tries to teach him the skills he needs to become a water rescue dog. Zeus has the courage and strength for the job, but his eagerness keeps getting in the way of proper training sessions. Each lesson becomes a challenge as Zeus struggles to focus and follow commands. The bond between boy and puppy grows stronger every day, but Zeus faces a painful reality. Becoming a working dog means leaving Kimo behind when training ends. Zeus must find a way to master his rescue skills while keeping his friendship with the boy who means everything to him. Their connection drives Zeus to succeed, but the threat of separation looms over every training session.
