Apostle's Cove

by William Kent Krueger

First published 2025

Cork O'Connor broods about his approaching birthday when his son Stephen calls with troubling news. Stephen works for a nonprofit that frees wrongly convicted prisoners, and he believes Cork sent an innocent Ojibwe man named Axel Boshey to prison for murder decades ago. Cork decides to reopen the cold case, but Boshey refuses to cooperate. As Cork investigates, someone in Tamarack County starts killing to protect buried secrets. Meanwhile, Cork's seven-year-old grandson develops his own theory about recent deaths. The boy believes the Windigo has arrived in their Minnesota town. This mythic cannibal creature feeds on human flesh, and it will keep hunting until its appetite is satisfied. Cork must solve both the old murder and the new killings while protecting his family from an enemy willing to destroy anyone who threatens the truth.
