Bad Hair Day

by Sarah Mlynowski

First published 2014

Abby has endured a miserable day at school and desperately needs an escape. She decides to travel through the magic mirror with her brother and their new dog. They tumble into Rapunzel's story and immediately climb the famous golden locks. The hair transforms into a tangled disaster that resembles cheese grater damage. Abby tries to fix the mess by cutting it, but each snip makes things worse. Soon Rapunzel's hair becomes too short for anyone to climb, trapping them all in the tower. Now Abby must solve multiple problems to restore the tale. She needs to discover the tower's hidden exit and dodge a massive spider that wants to devour them. She has to track down Pickles, who turns out to be the prince in disguise. Most importantly, she must help Rapunzel reconnect with her long lost parents. Time runs short as the fractured fairy tale threatens to strand them permanently in this chaotic world.
