Blaine Bowers thinks his boyfriend Joey will invite him to Cabo for spring break. Instead, Joey dumps him in front of everyone at Wicker West High School. The reason? Blaine is too goofy and unserious for someone with Joey's ambitions. Joey has already moved on to Zach Chesterton, a guy who fits his idea of serious boyfriend material. Blaine works as a muralist around Chicago and loves his creative life with his family and friends. But Joey's rejection stings. Blaine hatches a plan to prove he can be serious too. He will run for senior class president, the same position Joey holds now. If Blaine wins, he will beat Zach and show Joey he was wrong. The campaign forces Blaine to question who he really is. He must decide whether winning Joey back is worth changing everything that makes him himself.
