Part of Paul Madriani, book 14

First published 2016

Paul Madriani takes on Emma Brauer's case when she faces charges for allegedly mercy killing her elderly father Robert. Emma insists on her innocence and tells Paul about a mysterious package Robert received from a World War II unit member before entering the hospital. The package contained only a key and a piece of paper. Emma believes this delivery connects to her father's death. When Paul's assistant Sofia is murdered, he realizes Emma's suspicions hold weight. Paul and his partner Harry Hinds investigate Robert's military service and discover that other members of his Army unit have died under suspicious circumstances recently. Their investigation reveals the package relates to a missing Nazi artifact called the Blood Flag that vanished at war's end. As Paul digs deeper into this wartime conspiracy, both Emma's fate and his own safety hang in the balance. He must expose the truth behind the Blood Flag before its dark legacy claims more victims.
