Jack Ryan Jr. is on forced leave from The Campus when killers target him on the street. He fights back and kills his attacker, but the attempt on his life connects to his recent mission with Iranian operative Ysabel Kashini. The evidence points to Rostock Security Group and its founder Jürgen Rostock, a former German Special Forces general who presents himself as a humanitarian. Jack recognizes Rostock from a previous Campus operation that exposed connections to the security firm. Now Rostock wants Jack dead. Cut off from Campus resources, Jack runs his own investigation into Rostock's activities. He discovers that Rostock has orchestrated years of false flag terrorist attacks that killed thousands of people. These operations were preparation for a massive upcoming event designed to elevate Rostock among world powers. Jack races against time to prevent this catastrophe, working alone against a well-funded enemy with global reach.
