Part of Wildcat Hockey
First published 2024
Avery has one summer left before real life starts. Her brother's hockey team is off for the off-season, but his captain, Cole, is stuck at home nursing a season-ending injury and driving away every nurse who tries to help him. Avery steps in. She tells herself it's practical. She tells herself she's immune to him. She has seen the chiseled jaw, yes, and the sculpted arms, and she has noted them and moved on. Cole is grumpy, guarded, and makes no secret of his no-serious-relationships rule. He can have any woman he wants. He does not want complications. Neither does she. She is leaving at the end of summer regardless. So the situation is simple, contained, and safe. Except Cole starts letting her in. Past the sharp comments and the closed-off stare, there is someone she actually likes. That is the problem. Now Avery wants more than a caretaking arrangement, and she has to convince a man who lives by his own rules to break them for a fling with his teammate's little sister. The clock is running, the summer is short, and neither of them is as in control as they think.
