Part of Shacking Up
First published 2018
Rian Sutter knows the Hamptons well. She spent summers there as a kid, back when her family had money. Now she and her sister are clawing their way back through real estate deals, buying and selling to wealthy clients while saving up to flip their own beachfront property. The plan is solid until a man named Pierce Whitfield keeps buying every promising house before she can close. Pierce is not even a developer. He is a lawyer on a break from the city, helping his brother renovate a handful of homes. He did not expect to meet someone like Rian, and the pull between them is immediate. The problem is they keep wanting the same properties. Every time Rian gets close, Pierce gets there first. The competition sharpens what started as attraction into something more complicated and harder to ignore. Both of them are rebuilding something, and not just houses. The question is whether two people fighting over the same square footage can stop long enough to figure out what they actually want from each other.
