Part of Toronto Terror
First published 2025
The proposal comes out of nowhere. Connor Grace, the NHL's most notorious bad boy and the disgraced heir to a hotel empire, needs a wife. Not a real one. Just someone willing to play the part long enough to keep his grandmother satisfied. That someone turns out to be a librarian who grew up in foster care and has no business standing next to a man in a custom suit with tattoos hidden underneath. She agrees. The plan is simple: look convincing in public, stay detached in private. No real kisses. No real feelings. But Connor off the ice is a different person. He sets down the armor he carries everywhere else and acts like she matters. He holds her like the arrangement is something more than paperwork. She knows better. She learned young that good things do not stay. Fairytales were never part of her story. But wanting something and knowing better have never been the same thing, and Connor Grace is making that gap very hard to ignore.
