Harriet doesn't want to move to Marble Island. Her father made this decision without asking her opinion. She has to leave her friends behind for a small California island where her grandmother runs a bed and breakfast. Harriet tells herself she hates everything about this change. When she arrives on the island, though, Harriet finds more than she expected. The island holds secrets. Something happened here when her father was a boy. Harriet discovers clues that point to an old mystery involving her dad's childhood. She decides to investigate. Moneypenny, her grandmother's basset hound, becomes her companion in this quest. As Harriet digs deeper into the island's past, she starts to see her new home differently. The mystery draws her in and gives her a purpose. Solving it might help her understand her father better and find her place on Marble Island.
