When everything closes down for a long spring and the family must stay home, Dad suggests they take a walk together. Schools have shut their doors. Work has stopped. All the fun activities have been canceled. During their neighborhood stroll, they stumble upon two duck eggs that have been left behind. The family decides to bring the eggs home and care for them. They spend their days reading about ducks, learning what the eggs need, and laughing together as they wait. The family watches and tends to the eggs through the quiet spring days. Then one morning, the eggs crack open and two tiny ducklings emerge. The family names them Pip and Zip, welcoming these new lives into their world during a time when everything else had paused.
