Part of Moonshot Hockey

First published 2025

Avery wakes up in a Las Vegas hotel room with fragmented memories and Travis Bennett, the NHL player who lives next door, asleep beside her. They are legally married. Travis has been asking her out for weeks, and she has kept her distance. He is charming, confident, and already cost her once in her gymnastics career. Married is not the same as interested. When the press picks up the story, walking away immediately means a PR disaster for both of them. They agree to stay together on paper until her gymnastics season begins. Avery calls it a mistake. Travis calls it an opening. He wears the arrangement like a winning hand, showing up shirtless in their shared space, packing her lunches, and treating every small moment like a move in a longer game. She is wearing his ring in public and his jersey at the rink. The problem is that the performance keeps slipping into something that feels genuine. Travis is tracking every point, and he has decided the only outcome he will accept is her heart.
