Little Miss Stoneybrook... and Dawn

by Ann M. Martin

Part of The Baby-Sitters Club, book 15

First published 1993

Dawn Schafer watches as the Baby-sitters Club holds a formal ceremony for new members Jessi and Mallory. She wonders why no one recognizes her special contributions as a sitter. Her chance to prove herself arrives when Mrs. Pike asks her to prepare Margo and Claire for the Little Miss Stoneybrook contest. Dawn accepts eagerly, even though Margo's only talent involves peeling bananas with her feet. She throws herself into helping her charges succeed. The situation grows complicated when she discovers that Kristy, Mary Anne, and Claudia are also preparing contestants. Kristy coaches Karen, while Mary Anne works with Myriah and Claudia helps Charlotte. The club members find themselves on opposite sides of the competition. Tensions rise as the pageant approaches. Dawn must navigate her loyalty to the club while supporting Margo and Claire. The contest becomes a test of friendship as much as talent.
