Charlotte Donovan has rebuilt her life on her own terms. She plays violin in the Rosalind Quartet, she lives in New York, and she has spent five years putting her ex-fiancée Brighton Fairbrook firmly in the past. Then her ensemble mate Sloane invites the quartet to spend Christmas at her family's place in Colorado, promising quiet, practice time, and a break from Manhattan. Charlotte says yes. Brighton is already there. Sloane's sister Adele brought her along, and now Charlotte and Brighton are under the same roof, pretending they are strangers. The problem is Sloane and Adele's mother keeps signing everyone up for Christmas activities: horseback riding, cookie decorating, group outings that leave no room for distance. Brighton got kicked out of her band before the holidays and just wants one good Christmas. Charlotte got left at the altar and is not interested in revisiting that wound. But old memories keep surfacing. So does the music they used to make together, Brighton on guitar and Charlotte on violin. Neither of them can pretend that means nothing.
