Rachel Blake has built a quiet life on Rainshadow Island with her dust bunny companion. She runs a bookstore and café far from the conflicts that once defined her existence. Rachel possesses rare abilities that let her read the psychic auras of criminals and defend herself through exotic martial arts training. Her peaceful routine shatters when Harry Sebastian arrives on the island. Harry descends from notorious pirates and comes to investigate mysterious disturbances in the Preserve, the island's privately controlled forest. Rachel finds herself pulled into Harry's investigation despite her reservations. Her psychic talents make her invaluable for tracking dangerous rogues who have breached the Preserve's boundaries. Yet those same abilities reveal something darker within Harry himself. As they work together to uncover the threats lurking in the woods, Rachel must decide whether to trust a man whose amber eyes hide secrets of his own. The investigation forces both Rachel and Harry to confront desires that could either destroy their defenses or forge an unexpected bond.
