Enishte Effendi has gathered the finest miniature painters in sixteenth-century Istanbul for a secret commission. The Sultan wants a magnificent book celebrating his reign, illustrated in the European style with realistic figures. This artistic choice puts everyone at risk since Islamic tradition forbids such representation. When one of the chosen artists disappears without warning, fear spreads through the group. The Sultan gives them three days to solve the mystery or face his wrath. Enishte searches for answers in the unfinished paintings themselves, wondering if religious zealots discovered their forbidden work. Meanwhile, his beautiful daughter Shekure attracts multiple suitors, adding romantic rivalry to the dangerous mix. As the deadline approaches, the remaining artists must navigate between artistic ambition and religious law, between loyalty and survival, while a killer may walk among them.
