Rip Ripple and his wife Rapella are traveling to visit friends in their trailer, the Chartreuse Caboose, when a drugged young man assaults Rip at a rest area near Rockdale, Missouri. The retired lawman brushes off the attack, telling Rapella it's no big deal. But when Detective Wyatt Johnson investigates, they discover the attacker is the son of Lillian Sparrow, a recently deceased neighbor of their friends Lexie Starr and Stone Van Patten. Rip and Rapella arrive at the Alexandria Inn bed and breakfast to find themselves drawn into questions about Lillian's death. The two couples team up to uncover what really happened to the elderly woman. Their amateur investigation puts Rapella and Lexie in serious danger as they dig deeper into secrets someone wants buried. This cozy mystery proves that retirement brings its own risks when curiosity leads to deadly discoveries.
