Sally Milz writes sketches for The Night Owls, a Saturday night comedy show. She has given up on finding love after past heartbreaks and focuses on her career instead. When her colleague Danny Horst starts dating Annabel, a beautiful guest host, Sally creates a sketch called the Danny Horst Rule. The sketch mocks how average men at the show date gorgeous accomplished women while the opposite never happens. Then Noah Brewster arrives as host and musical guest. He is a famous pop star known for dating models. Sally finds herself drawn to his charm as they work together on sketches. She starts to wonder if something real might develop between them. But Sally believes someone like Noah would never seriously date someone like her. The story examines whether Sally's assumptions about romance and attraction will hold true or if Noah might prove her wrong about the rules of love.
