Part of Cork O'Connor

First published 2024

Cork O'Connor's grandson makes a grim discovery while exploring the Minnesota woods. He uncovers the shallow grave of a young Ojibwe woman, but local authorities show little interest in investigating her death. At the same time, a politician's teenage daughter vanishes, triggering a massive search operation across the region. Cork teams up with the newly established Iron Lake Ojibwe Tribal Police to examine the murdered woman's case. Their investigation reveals an unexpected link between the dead Ojibwe woman and the missing teenager. As they dig deeper into both cases, the killer takes notice of their progress. Cork realizes his grandson has become a target. The boy who found the first victim now faces becoming the next one. Cork must solve both mysteries before the murderer strikes again, protecting his family while seeking justice for the forgotten dead.
