Flemming the snake starts his journey in familiar Georgia territory. When he ventures beyond his home, the landscape becomes foreign and confusing. He finds himself in Canada, a place completely unlike anything he knows. The friendly little snake needs directions and assistance, but every creature he approaches flees in terror. Animals scatter when they see him coming. Humans run away before he can ask his questions. Flemming cannot figure out why everyone fears him. He explores this strange northern land, meeting animals he has never encountered before. Then he discovers Kimberly, a young girl who shows him kindness instead of fear. She becomes his ally in this unfamiliar place. Kimberly teaches Flemming about the value of true friendship. She also helps him find a very special companion, someone who will matter more than anyone else in his life.
