The marvellously hidden city of Gondolin is doomed. Morgoth, the Dark Lord, seeks to destroy it and the Noldorin Elves who dwell there. Only Tuor, guided by the sea-god Ulmo, can reach Gondolin and warn its king, Turgon. But treachery is afoot, and Morgoth's forces amass for a devastating assault. In the end, Gondolin falls in a blaze of fire, and its survivors flee southward, escaping the wreckage to face an uncertain future.
