Part of Pern
First published 1999
Robinton enters the world as the son of two musical legends. His mother Merelan possesses the finest soprano voice Pern has ever known. His father Petiron creates compositions so complex that only Merelan can perform them. Yet from his first breath, Robinton faces his father's cold rejection. Petiron refuses to acknowledge his son's extraordinary gifts or celebrate his accomplishments. The Harper Hall steps in quietly, nurturing abilities that extend beyond music into dragon communication. Personal heartbreak shadows Robinton's rise through Pern's Holds and Weyrs. His meteoric career leads him to the position of MasterHarper, where he joins the mission to save Lessa from Fax's tyranny. Lessa holds the key to rescuing Pern's dragons from extinction.
