The Sixth Idea

by P. J. Tracy

Part of Monkeewrench, book 7

First published 2016

Chuck Spencer and Wally Luntz plan to meet for the first time, but both end up dead on the same December night in Minneapolis. Homicide detectives Leo Magozzi and Gino Rolseth catch the case, which grows stranger when Lydia Ascher discovers two corpses in her basement. The detectives realize Ascher connects to their victims, making her a likely target. Meanwhile, someone kidnaps a dying elderly man and an Alzheimer's patient vanishes from his facility. The crimes link together in ways that baffle the police. Magozzi and Rolseth turn to Grace MacBride and her Monkeewrench team, computer experts who tackle impossible cases. Grace works with her partners Annie, Roadrunner, and Harley Davidson to trace the mystery back sixty years. What they uncover threatens far more than individual lives. A dormant catastrophe waits to activate, and only the combined efforts of the detectives and the Monkeewrench crew can prevent disaster from striking.
